Vivo's budget-oriented Y-series will welcome an additional device — Vivo Y16 to the collection soon. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has already signed off on model "V2204," AKA Vivo Y16 certification. Several listings in IMEI and Geekbench databases point to its debut in the smartphone market soon.

It's been a while since we saw a new addition to the Y15 series, Vivo Y15s was the last to join in January 2022. Now a successor is on its way, the rumor mill has leaked core specifications and renders for the upcoming Vivo Y16, featuring display quality, camera setup, battery, and more.

Firstly, the display on Vivo Y16 is an underwhelming 720p resolution, 6.51 inch IPS LCD, and houses the front camera inside the notch. The selfie camera is a modest 5MP image sensor. There is a dual-camera configuration on the rear, utilizing a 13MP sensor paired with a 2MP sensor for depth mapping. The device has no camera bump — only cameras popping out directly through the shell's rectangular-glossy accent.

Under the hood, we get MediaTek Helio P35 — an old, low-end octa-core chipset clocked at 2.3 GHz for processing. It has an integrated GPU (PowerVR GE8320) clocked at 680 MHz for graphics. You get 128GB/64GB of storage with 4GB memory — virtually extended up to 8GB for better multitasking. All of this is powered by a 5000 mAh cell. Per the rumors, the device only supports a 10-watt charging standard.

The software front is covered by Android 12 x Funtouch OS 12 with features like Extended Ram 2.0, Multi Turbo 5.5, and Ultra Game Mode baked inside the UI. Per the renders, we can see two color options, Black and Gold. No word on the Vivo mobile price yet. The device rocks a side-facing fingerprint scanner + power button for convenient unlocking. Vivo Y16 was also listed in the IMEI database, hinting at an official launch just around the corner.
