Following the Global Vivo V20 launch, Y1s is a new entry-level phone from Vivo that launched in Cambodia a few months back. Following that debut, the Y1s is now launching in India. And given the brand’s typical release calendar in South Asia, it should be headed to Pakistan next.
Let’s start with the phone’s design. Vivo Y1s is a welcome change from most entry-level phones that feature oversized camera islands and displays to mimic higher-end models. A single 13MP rear camera, encased in a ring housing, rests on the back.
The selfie camera is an unremarkable 5MP. No advanced image-processing features — like a Night Mode — to be seen here.
If you’re in the camp that finds modern big phones too cumbersome for single-handed use, the Vivo Y1s should be on your shortlist. It has a standard 6.22” HD+ notched display. The body is made of plastic and painted in a matte soft gradient aesthetic. Aurora Blue blends white, blue, and purple together, while Olive Black uses black and deep turquoise on Vivo's new model. It’s not too basic or too tacky.
But the design is pretty much where the pros end. At its heart, the Y1s uses the MediaTek Helio P35 processor (that came out in 2018), 2GB/3GB of memory, and 32GB of expandable storage (up to 256GB). A below-average 4030 mAh backs up this hardware. And Vivo’s FunTouchOS based on Android 10 powers it.
There is no support for fingerprint security or fast charging. You can secure the phone with 2D face unlock. Vivo Y1s is expected to start from Rs. 19,999.
