There were sightings before, rumors, certifications, and such. But now that the Vivo Y28s 5G has gone official, we don’t need to speculate on the specs. We looked them up and can rat out each of this phone’s components with certainty.

There’s a mix of low and potent hardware in it. It can disappoint in some places but save its grace in others. That SoC is a great example to start from. They went with a Dimensity 6300 here. We know it’s a conservative way to embed 5G into a phone. But these 6000 series chips have come far in performance as well.

8 GB RAM and extended virtual memory are also part of their Y28s package. Then, they load the phone with your typical 256 GB storage. All of this is handy stuff. And there is one treasured SD card slot that rolls with it. But it all goes sideways from there.

Vivo's budget new 5G mobile’s power source is 5000 mAh. That’s nothing to complain about. But 15W charging speed is a tragedy. It’s the weakest link in the chain and disappointing to see. We believe it can break the deal for most buyers. But at least it has a sideways fingerprint ID and IP64.

The display tech they used here is IPS LCD 6.56” @ 90Hz. The Vivo Y28s 5G is only HD+ resolution, meaning 720p. Then there are back (50 MP + 2 MP) cameras. But a front 8 MP resolution selfie camera is up in the notch. Its price is still a mystery. And we don’t know the availability details yet.
