Their Vivo Y series is of no consequence in the current market scene. Phones hailing from this category barely compete with others in the same segment. Time and time we've seen phones that fall short of their expectation. Is that going to change in the future? Geekbench hints about a prototype Vivo Y28s 5G that they tested and shared results of.
Y28s 5G has a listing now on Geekbench with code V2346. We saw it pulling 599 points (single core). And it also managed a 1707 score in the Multicore category. They used an 8 GB RAM option for testing. There should be more when Vivo debuts it as an official phone.
Geekbench 6.3 was what they used here. Remember, it's far more lenient and does award more scores, even if the phone isn't there performance-wise. Well, thanks to the identifier for that mystique SoC. We were able to trace it as Dimensity 6300 (most likely).
That SoC only puts one step through the 5G door. You can call it a Helio G96 with a 5G modem. But we can't say we expected more from Vivo's new budget mobile like this. Android 14 is aboard skulking with a custom Funtouch OS 14 skin. That's almost it for the big revelation from the Geekbench.
Some certifiers already gave it a go across the globe. FCC did it sometime earlier. It passed the Vivo Y28s 5G for launch in the US. There were some charging details in the document. It allows 15W input, by the looks of it. There's no news about its launch yet. But we'll let you know what we find ahead.
