After their deluxe V series, the Y catalog is the second-best thing to look out for. Coming up is the Vivo Y29 series that’s been spotted on the IMEI database. That’s good news for two reasons. Now we know that the first two devices joining the foray are ‘Vivo Y29 5G’ and ‘Vivo Y29e 5G.’
The second reason is a confirmation of an imminent launch lurking on the horizon. IMEI Database also gave away their model codes. ‘V2420’ is the code assigned to Vivo Y29 5G. And Vivo Y29e 5G got the code ‘V2421’ as its identifier.
This is probably the first-ever official sighting of these phones. IMEI database didn’t unravel much, but it’s a start. And those model codes will help us track their development as they reach an eventual debut. These phones are coming to replace the old Y28 and Y28e.
Looking back, we remember how awesome the Y28 series was. Vivo Y28 5G bagged a 6.56” IPS display at HD+ resolution, plus it had a gliding 90Hz refresh rate. Dimensity 6300 was the engine at its core, and it secured up to 8 GB RAM. Its power source was a 5000mAh cell, compared to Vivo's new budget 5G handset.
Vivo Y28e 5G was just as good with an identical screen. But it cut back on the camera specs. Where Y28 had a 50MP + 2 MP + 8 MP (selfie) combo, Y28e had a rear 13 MP + 0.08 MP + 5 MP (selfie) setup for photos. Another thing weighing it down was the 4 GB RAM capacity. Their Vivo Y29 series will likely improve, where the forerunners lacked.
