Vivo Y29s 5G Goes Official with Familiar Look, Dimensity 6300 & 5500mAh Battery

Vivo Y29s was made official yesterday with a 5G-ready SoC and a design we’ve already seen on a Vivo Y04. The newcomer Vivo Y29s even borrows the display from its two-week-old entry-level cousin, which is underwhelming at best. Still, the internals have been upgraded, and so is the operating system.

The notched screen on Vivo Y29s’ front side is an IPS HD+ (720p) panel that can push pixels at a 90Hz refresh rate. A 570 nits brightness is standard for liquid crystal displays, but the readability might be challenging under the sun or in some well-lit surroundings.

Its bezels are fine and mostly uniform (except the chin), and the small notch on the forehead keeps the screen mostly uninterrupted. Vivo’s goal with this device is to get a durable 5G-ready device out there for the entry-level market. Dimensity 6300 has been the best SoC for this job, as seen multiple times in previous Vivo releases, including the Vivo Y29 5G.

Vivo Y29s uses Funtouch OS 15 out of the box, which is a proprietary Android 15 custom OS from Vivo. The phone uses an 8-core 2.4GHz Dimensity 6300 engine to run it. It’s a relatively new chip, which can handle the latest Android  15 OS smoothly and lag-free. In terms of the Vivo price catalog, the Y29s offers great performance at a competitive price point.

Vivo also gave the phone an IP64-rated durable chassis and an SGS certified Military-grade shockproofing. The same level of durability you’ll find on other Vivo Y29 devices in the lineup. To power all its hardware, Vivo Y29s has a built-in 5500mAh cell, which should last you more than a day, but its 15W charging might prove slow for some users.

We have a 50 MP main camera on the back with a single LED flash (no Aura light) and a 0.08 MP secondary lens for assistance. Sadly, the selfie shooter only comes with a 5 MP sensor. For what it’s worth, Vivo also includes an AI Eraser option with Y29s and 256 GB storage for all your photos and videos.

This handset was made official in Titanium Gold and Jade Green Colors with a solo 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage option. Vivo Y29s has been launched globally, but until it officially lands in a market for retail, the pricing and availability remain unknown. We’ll update you as soon as we find out the rest of its details, so stay tuned.
