Vivo Y50 Went on Sale in the Chinese Market, Might also Land in Pakistan

The long-awaited Vivo Y50 went official 2 days ago and has now landed in the Chinese stores today. This lower-mid-range Vivo went for pre-orders first before hitting the store shelves and starts at an affordable Vivo price of CNY 1,698  or about 38,000 Pak rupees.

The Vivo Y50 is pretty cookie-cutter in terms of design. You get a punch-hole display out front, and triple-camera system inside a rectangular island on the back.

A rear-mounted capacitive fingerprint reader flanks the three-lens setup. The back panel is chamfered around the edges and features a cascading radial light pattern that comes in Starry Black, Pearl White, and Iris Blue shades.

The so-called ‘Ultra-O’ display on The y50 by Vivo measures 6.53 inches, produces an FHD+ resolution, and reaches a 90.77% screen-to-body ratio. The frame and the rear-shell are both polycarbonates, which might come as a surprise to some since its competitors in this price bracket offer all-around glass builds. It’s 9.1mm thick and weighs 197g, so you’re looking at a rather hefty phone.

The camera on the back of the Y50 includes a 13MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a pair of 2MP macro and depth shooters. The main lens has PDAF support, and the wide-angle camera can capture 120-degree shots. The ensemble remains unremarkable, owing to its entry-level pixel count and the exceedingly underwhelming f/2.2 aperture across the board. The in-display camera has a 16MP lens behind it.

The performance might be a different story, though – at least on paper. The Vivo Y50 is powered by a Snapdragon 665 processor, 6GB/8GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of native storage. You can boost the performance further with Vivo’s Multi-Turbo 3.0. The internals run on a 5,000 mAh battery that lacks any support for fast charging (which again, isn’t typical of lower-mid-range devices).

At mid-range Vivo prices, the Y50 also ships with the latest FunTouch OS 10 and Vivo’s own Jovi voice assistant. We haven’t received word on its arrival in Pakistan just yet but we'll update you as soon as we hear anything.
