Vivo's confusing naming antics continue. In a new development, the brand is re-releasing the Vivo S1 Pro design in the Pakistani market as Vivo Y51 (which itself shares its name with a Vivo phone from 2015). Our sources tell us that Vivo plans on discontinuing the S1 Pro once the Y51 hits the market.

Design-wise the Vivo Y51 looks pretty much similar to the S1 pro. You’re looking at the same quad-camera housed inside the very distinctive diamond plate. Three cameras are stacked on top of each other, with the fourth flanking the trio.

Accented with a red line reaching the center of the camera island, the Y51 is all painted in a reflective texture. The back is chamfered, smooth and comes in Dreamy White, Jazzy Blue, and Mystic Black editions.

The Vivo Y51 camera array features a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP 120° wide-angle camera, rounded off by macro and depth sensors. It’s powered by Vivo’s latest image-processing software, featuring the ‘Super Night Mode’, ‘AI Face Beauty’, and ‘Ultra Stable Video’ mode. Your selfies are captured with a 16MP AI camera and on top of it the Vivo mobile price tag is also on the mid-range side.

Flip the Y51 by Vivo over to find a 6.38” corner-to-corner SuperAMOLED display, producing an FHD+ resolution. Vivo has trimmed the bezels to the very edges and carved a drop notch into the screen to house the front camera. It supports Always-on display and an in-display fingerprint reader.

Qualcomm’s previous-gen Snapdragon 665 mobile platform powers the phone. It’s joined by equally underwhelming 4GB of memory and 128GB of storage. The 4,500 mAh battery on Vivo Y51 supports 18W ‘dual-engine’ fast charging over a USB Type-C port. Vivo’s FuntouchOS 10 (built on Android10) is shipped with the device. While the S1 Pro starts at Rs. 39,999, we expect the Y51 to fall anywhere around 30,000 to 35,000 Rs.
