Vivo Y55 5G is the latest Y-series phone to come out in 2022 — three Vivo Y phones have already launched this year. But the Y55 is this year’s first entry-level 5G phone from Vivo. It rocks a cookie-cutter design, all essentials of a modern Android phone, and future-proofing via 5G.
Let’s talk design first. The Y55 features a flat plastic casing with sharp, angular edges. In addition, The Vivo Y33s' sibling has a subtle grainy texture on the shell, offered in iridescent multi-hue and matte black finishes.
In the corner, we find a raised camera rectangle holding three lenses. The thumbprint reader and power button are merged on the frame. Lastly, turn the Vivo Y55 over to meet its notched screen — heavy bezel on the top and bottom, minimal ones on the sides. It’s a classic look of a modern Vivo phone.
We’re looking at a 6.58” IPS LCD that fills a 20:9 aspect ratio and produces a 1080P resolution. The camera embedded in this Vivo Y55's display is 8MP. The triple-lens camera on the back features a 50MP f/1.8 lens, a 2MP macro shooter, and a 2MP portrait sensor.
The engine inside the New Vivo 5G mobile is the MediaTek Dimensity 700 (their cheapest 5G chip.) It’s hooked up to a 5000 mAh battery, powered by 18W FlashCharge. Android 11 x FunTouchOS runs on the phone out of the box.
NFC support is available, as is a 3.5mm audio port. The storage can be expanded via a dedicated slot. But the speaker is mono-firing. The phone comes in a single 4GB/128GB configuration. Vivo Y55 starts from ~ PKR 51,000. It’s currently a Taiwan exclusive.
