Since the Vivo V21 is already out, the brand is repurposing the Vivo V20 from last year into the Y73 2021. WhatMobile recently covered this new Y73 when it surfaced in a certification listing. Its specs, pricing, and launch timeline were leaked earlier this week, revealing that the Y73 is a mild refresh of the original V20.
Courtesy of the publication MySmartPrice, we learn that the Vivo Y73 2021 will launch sometime in India this month. The report doesn’t specify a date, but the phone has already been certified, so the timeline adds up. We also have the spec sheet that lines up perfectly with the V20, save for the altered camera system.
The Y73 (2021) screen is a 6.44” SuperAMOLED panel that delivers a full HD resolution, supports HDR10 content, and houses an in-display fingerprint scanner. The build also shares its dimensions with the V20 — at 170g of weight and 7.83mm of depth, the rehashed Vivo new model of 2021 is equally featherweight.
While the V20 featured Qualcomm silicon, the Y73 2021 has the MediaTek Helio G95 at its heart. It’s a 12 nm chip you’ll find in the new Realme 8 and Redmi Note 10 series. A 4000 mAh battery and the Android11-based FunTouchOS power this hardware. It’s supported by 33W quick charging technology.
Instead of a 44MP front camera that supports eye-tracking, the selfie camera on this screen is a standard 16MP lens. Vivo Y73 2021’s triple rear camera also loses its 8MP ultra-wide lens, replacing it with a 2MP macro camera. The 64 MP f/1.7 wide and 2MP depth lenses are retained. The Y73 2021 will come in a single 8GB+12GB variant, starting from INR 20,999 (~ Rs. 44,000.)
