Xiaomi 12 is Xiaomi’s big flagship for this year. It’s been popping up in leaks over the past few weeks. The official launch is still a month away. But industry sources have already published the camera layout and specs for the Xiaomi Mi 11's upcoming successor.
Digital Chat Station, a reputable industry analyst based in China, tweeted an image showcasing the Xiaomi 12 camera. It’s a slightly redesigned setup featuring three lenses and two LED clusters. The leading camera here has a 50MP sensor behind it. Ultra-wide and periscope lenses have also been upgraded.
The phone leaker further noted that Xiaomi is trimming the resolution from 1440P QHD+ down to standard 1080P. Also, save for the re-arranged cameras, the Xiaomi 12 has the same design as last year’s Mi 11.
We’ll be looking at a hole-punched screen surrounded by razor-thin bezels. The panel measures 6.7-6.8” across. The fingerprint scanner on Xiaomi's brand new model still hides under this display, but it’s improved and effective over a larger area.
It’s also worth mentioning that some conflicting reports point to an invisible under-display camera solution for the Xiaomi 12. The Mi MIX 4 that debuted a few months ago adopted this cutting-edge tech.
As always, Xiaomi’s flagship phone will serve as the launchpad for the latest-and-greatest flagship chip from Qualcomm. The Xiaomi 12 will be the first Android to feature the upcoming Snapdragon 898 platform. Xiaomi is also almost doubling the charging speeds this year — from 55W to 100W.
