Rumor had it that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, Pro, and the standard variant debut on December 12 or December 16. But both dates came and went without any sign of a Xiaomi 12 phone. The launch is still in the offing, giving the rumor mill time for a few last-minute leaks.
The latest in this string of reports shows off the first unofficial product mockups featuring the Xiaomi 12. Steve Hemmerstoffer, also known as @OnLeaks, partnered with Zoutons to bring high-quality Xiaomi 12 renders. They showcase the phone from all possible angles. Plus, Zoutons also published a few specs to go with these images.
The unofficial mockups line up with the alleged Xiaomi 12 press image that has already made rounds on the internet. Xiaomi has returned to the generic camera ‘rectangle’ after experimenting with the geometrically balanced and accented look of the Xiaomi 11.
The camera bump on the new flagship Xiaomi mobile sticks out a couple of millimeters, resting atop a chamfered, satin-finished casing. Three lenses and an LED flash make up a cluster inside the housing. Xiaomi 12 is coated to minimize ghosting and glare. The primary camera here has a 50MP sensor behind it.
Flip the Xiaomi 12 over to reveal its screen. It’s, once again, curved along the edges and punched in the middle. But Xiaomi has made the phone much more compact this year. The screen shrank from 6.81” (on the last-gen) to 6.2”. The new dimensions are better for single-handed use. However, it still peaks at 1080P.
Despite the smaller footprint, Xiaomi managed to fit a 5000 mAh battery into the Xiaomi 12 — it’s 400 mAh bigger than Xiaomi 11’s. Note, however, that Xiaomi 12 has been certified with a 4500 mAh battery. So Zoutons’ prediction might be off. The phone charges at 67W. And the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is at its heart. It reportedly starts from INR 69,999 (~ Rs. 163,000.)
