Xiaomi 12 Lite, the successor to Xiaomi's fan favorite Mi 11 Lite 5G, has finally made it to Southeast Asia. The Lite variants stem from the flagship Mi phones, in this case, Mi 12 Pro and Mi 12. This handset certainly falls in the upper mid-range class of smartphones. For now, Xiaomi's pre-planned launch sequence only extends to two major markets in Southeast Asia, but more will follow soon.

The latest mid-range "lite" variant of the Xiaomi 12 has landed in Malaysia and the Philippines. Surmising from the market patterns and previous launch cycles, it should be heading for the remaining Asian regions next. Let's see what Mi 12 Lite brings to the table.

Xiaomi 12 Lite has a boxy outlook with flat rims for the edges and unified skin color — it has a frosted matte feel. The back panel has a boxy camera bump with three lenses sticking out. Overall, a radical design shift from last year's Mi 11 Lite, stylized with curves.

Flipping the phone around, you'll see an eccentric flat surface screen upfront — the bezels seem razor-thin with an earpiece tucked inside them. It's a corner-to-corner 6.55-inch AMOLED panel clocking at 120Hz screen refresh and 240Hz touch sampling. There's a top-center dead pixel hole punch on the screen of the new Xiaomi lite mobile for selfie camera placement.

The selfie snapper on Mi 12 Lite uses a 32MP sensor, while the rear cam has a staggering 108MP lens. A pair of assistive (8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro lenses) is docked right under the primary shooter.

The base variant Xiaomi 12 Lite, has a 6+128GB capacity, but you can pay extra to get an 8+128GB and 8+256GB storage RAM combo. At the core of Mi 12 Lite, there's a Snapdragon 778G chipset running on a 4300mAh battery and added support for 67W charging. Homescreen is an Android 12-based MIUI skin. It's available in shades of Lite Green, Lite Pink, and Black. The cheapest variant starts at 374 USD or ~PKR 80,000.
