Xiaomi 12 stands out as unique among the many flagship phones this year. Mainly because its dimensions shrank from the previous gen, making it a more compact device. And it must have been a popular decision since Xiaomi is coming out with an even smaller phone soon — the Xiaomi 12 Mini.
Of course, Xiaomi isn’t the first to introduce a tiny flagship phone. Apple has launched at least two iPhone Minis. At the official release event for the Xiaomi 12, the Chinese phone-maker outright compared the dimensions of their flagship with the iPhone 13. And the Xiaomi 12 Mini takes those parallels to the next level.
Note that Xiaomi has yet to tease or announce the Xiaomi 12 Mini officially. But the rumor mill leaked a product mockup showcasing the upcoming Mini phone. Twitter user @Shadow_Leak published an alleged image based on a prototype. In contrast to the 6.28” screens we’ve seen on the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X, the Xiaomi 12 Mini reportedly rocks a 5.4” display.
While this compact form factor as Xiaomi mini new model is already rare, sub 6” screens are practically unheard of in the world of Android these days. The alleged mockup showcases a different design than the other Xiaomi 12 phones.
Its triple-lens camera has accents but no camera bump. Since this design is radically different, we may be looking at a hoax or an early prototype.
