We've been hearing about the new Ultra variant of the Xiaomi 12 for quite some time now. The upcoming handset could stand out as unique among the many flagship phones this year, in terms of its proposed photographic capabilities and camera design.
A few days ago, the specs sheet of Xiaomi 12 Ultra circulated online, revealing impressive technical specifications such as the 6.7-inch AMOLED LTPO screen featuring full HD+ resolution with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor alongside a 5,000 mAh battery, and much more.
This week, Twitter user @Shadow_Leaks posted a "live" hands-on image of the phone, confirming earlier leaks and hinting at a launch just around the corner. The photo showcases the phone's back casing and camera layout. Since earlier leaks have unveiled the camera design already, the hands-on photo doesn't uncover any surprises.
The rear camera module is certainly the highlight of the device, furnished by the Leica logo, underlining Xiaomi's partnership with the renowned German manufacturer. The handset is expected to feature a hefty Xiaomi price tag.
According to the earlier reports, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra should be announced with a 50 MP main shooter (with OIS), while the ultrawide will have a 48 MP lens and the periscope will also have a 48 MP sensor but with 5x optical zoom. The smartphone also has a ToF sensor with laser focus. For selfies, there's a 20 MP snapper inside the punch-holed display.
With more users having access to the device, it is quite possible that the manufacturer announces the Xiaomi 12 ultra in the coming weeks, revealing the official price and availability details.
