Xiaomi 15 Global Features a Shocking Downgrade; FCC Reveals Inferior RAM & Storage

Xiaomi 15 series has a global debut on the way. Xiaomi 15 featured Snapdragon 8 Elite in China, a whopping 16 GB RAM, and storage as high as 1TB, but apparently, we won’t see this handset get the same treatment in the international markets, including the USA.

FCC listing for the global Xiaomi 15 variant is evidence that the phone only has 12 GB RAM and 512 GB max storage for the United States, and the same variant will end up in other global markets. The RAM won’t limit the phone’s functionality, but the storage isn’t quite flagship-worthy by today’s standard.

You won’t be able to expand the storage either, with the SD card slot absent, and the storage limited to 512 GB. 16 GB would've been a nice-to-have feature. This could’ve helped speed up the AI functionality, but the global Xiaomi 15’s 12 GB RAM will also suffice in most user scenarios.

At least they won’t switch out the Snapdragon 8 Elite in your non-Chinese Xiaomi 15 devices. The same goes for its screen. It will be the familiar LTPO AMOLED 120Hz 3200nits panel with a 1.5k resolution. Xiaomi's new 5G phone will also keep that 90W wired fast charging and 50W wireless support with everything people consider special about the Chinese model.

The standard Xiaomi 15’s price could be around $620. At least that’s what the rumor mill has led the press media to believe. If the reports are true, this price will beat Apple’s and Samsung’s vanilla flagships and certainly come out on top for affordability.
