Xiaomi Mi MIX 2020 Shows Up in Leaked Render Images, Meet Xiaomi’s Newest Revolutionary Design

Xiaomi is always pushing the boundaries of smartphone design, especially with its novel Mi Mix series. The company has once again introduced a ground-breaking new design with its Mi Mix 2020 — something we’ve never seen in the industry. In a recent development, the yet-to-be-announced Xiaomi Mi Mix 2020 surfaced on an international vendor’s webpage, complete with image previews. The page has since been taken down, but not before the renders made waves on the internet.

Forget notches, punch-holes, elaborate pop-up builds, or trailblazing under-the-screen camera technology, the new Mi Mix has its front cameras, and its power and volume rocker buttons to the right side of the screen, mounted on a slightly extended bezel. The screen itself features a lightweight outline skirting it and will bear a flagship Xiaomi mobile price. From the look of it, the phone appears to have a wafer-thin profile, combined with, of course, an uninterrupted display.

The rear-facing design isn’t as radical, but it is very much original. Instead of the vertical, oversized camera housings we’ve seen this year in flagships and budget models alike, the Mi Mix 2020 adopts a horizontal layout. Four camera lenses sitting side by side, on a polished black camera island that occupies the top-center, make up its camera array. Included in the system are a periscope-style zooming lens and a LiDAR sensor (the same kind rumored to debut with the upcoming iPhone series).

For our readers out of the loop, Xiaomi’s Mi Mix line isn’t meant for commercial production, but simply for introducing pioneering tech to the smartphone world. In other words, the Mi Mix 2020 won’t be going on the market, much like the Mi Mix Alpha, which too was a one-of-its-kind concept phone.
