Xiaomi MIX Flip Announced in China; Surpasses Z Flip 6 with Bigger Battery, Faster Charging

Xiaomi’s take on the Flip phones is fascinating. They announced the Xiaomi MIX Flip in China today. It’s late to join the race, but the MIX Flip does get most of the features right despite being a first-gen product. It even manages to beat Galaxy Z Flip 6 in some areas.

MIX Flip may be the first one to have a 4.0” cover screen on the platform. It’s OLED, has more than 1080p resolution, and best of all, there’s a 1-120Hz refresh rate. This cover OLED is just as impressive as the internal 6.68” main screen at 1-120Hz refresh and FHD+ resolution. Both those panels have a 3000 nits peak brightness.

From what we hear, it demolishes Samsung folds in the battery segment. Their latest Flip 6 holds only a 4,000 mAh capacity. And that Galaxy Fold 6 peaks at 4,400 mAh. But the Xiaomi MIX Flip outdid both with a 4,780 mAh cell crammed inside.

The latest Xiaomi foldable mobile has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 behind the scenes pulling the load. There’s either 12 GB or 16 GB RAM available with this phone. 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB storage comes locked with it. On the back, they installed a 50MP primary rear camera with OIS and a 50MP 2X telephoto to make it a proper flagship.

Even its selfie camera is high-res at 32MP. It’s better than Samsung Folds at charging with 67W, but there’s no wireless charging here. Z Flip 6 does wireless charging, and it has a USB C 3.2. MIX Flip will only get you a slower USB Type C 2.0.

Both have their pros and cons, but comparing those may be pointless. We hear Xiaomi MIX Flip is exclusive only to China right now. And it won’t be available in any other major global markets. But for what it’s worth, it costs CNY 5,999 in China (~PKR 229,000) for the 12/256GB option.
