Xiaomi Poco C71 Nearing Launch in Gold Finish; Could be a Rebadged Redmi A5

Xiaomi Poco C75 has been out for a while. It was released in November 2024, and while the C series devices usually launch in groups, this has been leading the charge solo. Xiaomi has finally decided to add another phone into the mix, which is intended to be its lower-end sibling: the Xiaomi Poco C71.

Poco C71 was found in a leak yesterday, and it seems the focus of this device is its flashy design. And, by “flashy,” we mean a shiny Gold Color option, the image of which was provided by the leaker Sudhanshu Ambhore on X/Twitter. The leak adds that Poco C71 will debut soon in one of the Asian markets.

This newcomer could make an official appearance by the 4th of April next month. It seems the launch is happening within a week, and these are all the details we could find on the internet about Poco C71, design, and all.

From what we’ve found, the new phone has a polar opposite design to the existing Poco C75. It’s made of a dual-tone finish and a camera island inspired by iPhone 16. Split through the middle, the rear shield parts into two dark and light Gold colors, of course, layered with a glossy coating, which looks amazing.

The latest 4G Xiaomi mobile was recently registered at the BIS certification authority. It was rumored back then that C71 could be a rebranded Redmi A5 from its sister brand. Since we know what the Redmi A5 scores in terms of specs, it paints a clear picture of what to expect from the Poco C71.

We know Redmi A5 has a 6.88” IPS-type display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 720p resolution. The phone came with a surprising 1500 nits HBM, which is ground-shattering IPS technology. Sadly, this newcomer quickly showed diminishing returns of value due to its weak Unisoc T7250 (12 nm) SoC.

This model only has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage on the maxed-out variant. At least there’s a 5200mAh battery here, which means a promising run-time for Poco C71 as well. The Redmi A5 also has 15W charging and a 32MP rear camera. If the Poco C71 is indeed a rebranded Redmi A5, the company might position this device as an entry-level model. Stay tuned for a follow-up article after the device’s expected launch on 4th April.
