POCO’s M-series features their budget-friendly phones, and it will welcome a new member soon, the Pro Variant of the Xiaomi POCO M3. The promotional campaign for the phone is already underway — teasing its features and specs. We were also given the launch timeline for this value-focused POCO.
The M3 Pro is a 5G phone, launching on May 19, 2021. You can catch the event live on POCO’s Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube pages. No images have been officially released yet, but a credible phone leaker published the alleged press renders of the POCO M3 Pro 5G. As seen in these images, the phone has a plasticky back, a hole-punch screen, and comes in three different finishes: bright yellow, aqua, and charcoal.
When we look past the flashy, stylized accents on the M3 Pro shell, we find that the phone follows the design language of the Redmi Note 10 series. It’s no coincidence because the POCO M3 Pro — likely many others before it — could be a rebranded Redmi Note 10 5G. The features that POCO has formally teased point toward the same.
First off, the M3 Pro has the Dimensity 700 to do its number-crunching. The 700 is MediaTek’s most entry-level 5G chip expected to be added soon to the Xiaomi price list. It’s powered by a 5000 mAh battery that can fast-charge at 18W.
The display, presumably an IPS LCD, offers trimmed bezels, a full HD resolution, and a fluid, responsive refresh rate of 90Hz. The triple-camera on the back is led by a 48MP lens (the other two cameras are likely low-resolution macro and portrait shooters.)
We have no word on the pricing yet, but if the Redmi Note 10 5G is any guide, the POCO M3 will launch as one of the cheapest 5G phones you can find. More details will surface once it debuts later this week.
