Xiaomi Redmi A5 Surfaces on FCC as Rebranded Poco C71 with Overlapping Specs

Xiaomi wants to officialize its next super affordable Redmi A5 device soon, and from what we can tell, the phone is already in the testing phase. FCC has approved it, so it has already got a green light for an American release. Before reaching this certification, the global Redmi A5 NFC version was indexed on the IMEI database, so we know it will debut in multiple regions.

The model code 25028RN03L was signed off by the FCC some hours ago. Its details were limited in the documentation, but we know for a fact now that this Redmi A5 is a 5G-ready model. It’s intended as a budget phone, so we have dual-band WiFi 5 and standard Bluetooth.

A5 is supposed to bring Android 15 out of the box. That means an updated Hyper OS 2.0 will be the UI here. Storage options don’t normally appear on the FCC certifications, but A5 was exposed in the files this time. It has four versions: 3/64 GB, 4/64 GB, 4/128 GB, and 6/128 GB.

XiaomiTime publication seems to believe that Redmi A5 will head out in some regions as Poco C71. The possible rebranding won’t be a shock, as it’s a routine tactic for Xiaomi to globalize its phones. The new Xiaomi Redmi mobiles are the same devices, and their overlapping model numbers are proof of that theory.

Poco C71 Global is 25028PC03G, and the Latin version is 25028PC03L. Redmi A5 is model number 25028RN03G for the global market, and 25028RN03L is the FCC-approved USA version. “PC” and “RN” extensions differ, but the other figures are identical, which means any leaked specs that belong to Redmi A5 will reflect the Poco C71. The exact launch dates for either device are missing, but it’s only a matter of time before Xiaomi confirms the specifics.
